My Story

Welcome! When I was young, my parents showed me the importance of education. Being born in Singapore gave me lots of opportunity to explore ways to soak in the wealth of knowledge and accumulate experience. Consequently, I became interested in personal and professional development and growth.

I first got into the training business when I was given the opportunity to speak in front of audience more than 25 years ago.

In those days, specifically during the 70s, 80s and 90s, we did not have the internet or mobile devices as tools of communication. Our tool of communication was basically our words that can be used to communicate our thoughts, feelings and opinions about topics that matter to others. Furthermore, people learn about us through word of mouth or marketing and promotion efforts. Even then, we had to physically print out brochures, flyers and send emails and mailers to prospective clients.

As a show of commitment to our craft, we must be physically present at every event and would not send just a video recording of our speeches and training course so others can watch virtually or at the “comfort of their own homes”. My rise to professional coaching, speaking, and training was set against this backdrop of hands-on and unedited life experience.

Nowadays, the internet creates opportunities for speakers and trainers like me to travel far and wide without stepping out of our home country. Yet, the travelling experience I had had when times were less technologically connected gave me the invaluable wisdom, knowledge, and experience to share my gift to others. I had travelled to many countries in South-east Asia, namely, Jakarta, Bandung, Malaysia, India, Singapore, Taiwan, and China.

As a multilingual communicator, I leverage languages as powerful tools to bridge cultural and language barriers. While courage and bravery didn’t always come naturally to me, my journey has been defined by determination, discipline, and diligence. A wise individual once told me, “Hanifa, you ought to make good use of your speaking skills.” During moments of scepticism and self-doubt about my Mandarin proficiency, a kind soul remarked, “I see that this is your blind spot, and that is the source of strength.” These words of encouragement have propelled me to embrace my potential and pursue my passion for effective communication across languages.

She is the first non-native Chinese in the history of Toastmasters International and the Singapaore Chinese Chamber Commerce And Industry (SCCCI) Mandarin Toastmasters Club to become President of the SCCCI Mandarin Toastmasters Club in 2017.

Hanifa regularly speaks four languages, namely Chinese, Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, English and a local dialect Hokkien.  

She has served and crewed for internationally well-known events like Unleashed The Power Within by Tony Robbins, Total Transformation by Kevin Huang (Taiwan), Train The Trainer by Blair Singer, and Mission To Millions by Success Resources.
